This well established café in Surry Hills wanted a minor make-over, while retaining many original features and the overall design palette. A resourceful and appropriate solution was to reveal the original heritage fabric and enhance existing elements that we felt could be carried over effectively, which also minimised costs. Existing white render was blasted away revealing the original english common bond brickwork. Natural and classic materials such as timber, stone and steel were employed. A monochromatic colour palette carried through the back bar joinery, signage and brand design. We really enjoyed designing and fabricating two large twin pendant shades with oak dowel and brass detailing giving a relaxed yet refined finish. A custom super round mirror suspended by a stained hardwood knob reflects natural light and views down Rutland Street.
