Many of you may fondly recall hittin’ up bustling Burwood Rd on a Friday or Saturday night and grabbing a bite at the iconic, neon-lit diner George’s Cafe. Well, after a few tough years of smoke, lockdowns, ghost towns and a stop-start construction mountain, George’s is back! Deciding to relocate to a prominent industrial site in Greenacre, inspiration for the warehouse conversion came not only from the old George’s Cafe but the building’s industrial heritage, retaining and exposing original, well worn brickwork and decorative features, embuing it with character and charm. The owners took a a leap of faith, trusting our process, that sometimes the decrepit old can become the cool new. Our design scope not only included the interior but the exterior building design and architectural elements.
